All Baharash offers vintage and pre-owned jewellery made from a wide variety of materials. Depending on the age and origin of a piece, these may include brass, steel, bronze and other metal alloys, with finishes such as gold-tone, silver-tone, rhodium plating or other decorative coatings.

Due to the nature and age of vintage jewellery, the exact metal composition of an unsigned or unmarked piece may not always be known. Older jewellery may also contain nickel, lead or other metals commonly used at the time of manufacture. Customers with known metal sensitivities should take this into consideration before purchasing. Materials and finishes are described as accurately as possible based on available markings, construction and our examination of each piece.

Definition of Vintage at Baharash

At Baharash, we generally consider jewellery dating from approximately 20 years ago or earlier to be vintage. Where an exact production date cannot be established, the period or decade stated in a listing represents our best assessment based on the piece’s design, construction, materials, markings and available reference information.

Our collections may occasionally include exceptional pre-owned or collectible pieces that fall outside this definition. Where this is the case, they will be described accordingly.

DESIGNER & MAKER ATTRIBUTION

Designer and maker information is provided based on identifiable signatures, hallmarks, stamps, construction details, provenance and available reference material.

Where a piece is unsigned or its attribution cannot be established with sufficient confidence, this will be stated in the individual listing. Any estimated date, period or attribution represents our considered assessment based on the information available at the time of listing.
